Shino is the main protagonist of Misfits. He is a genetically-modified human who is capable of body transmutation; in other words, a limited form of shapeshifting.
History
Shino was originally brought to BOHRAS as a subject for testing a potential cure to aging. It is unknown whether he submitted himself to undergo these modifications, but based on the way he acts, no trauma appears to have occured.
Not much other information is available about his past life prior to the lab, as most information was either classified or lost to time; the operation sent him into a lengthy coma from which he awakens in Issue 1.
Present Day
Shino currently stays at the lab, as he is technically their property so long as no legal parent is found. However, he gets along well with many of the scientists, including newcomer May, whom he quickly made friends with.
Abilities
Shino's infinite regeneration, imposed by the operation and sustained by the gem around his neck, keeps his cells in a constant state wherein they act as stem cells.
In less scientific terms, he's in a constant suspended state of generation. This allows him to possess a form of transmutation wherein he can shift around and reshape his cells at will, such as turning one appendage into another or rearranging his body into a different structure. Of course, this ability is limited by the boundaries of human biology.
These abilities are boosted by the natural capabilities of humans in Misfits, including magic, science, and technology.
Trivia
- Shino was named after his BOHRAS ID code: 51-73, or "SINE".
- Shino only wears socks with holes to take full advantage of his body.
The ones he currently has were not his own, hence the color mismatch.
- The tattered scientist jacket he wears was salvaged from an experiment with a... less than fortunate outcome.
